Insights Into Racing; Explaining the Winning Game is a biography, following Billy Ashabraner's experience both in front of the track and behind it.

After 15 years betting and handicapping horses, Billy Ashabraner decided the only way he would really understand racing was to move to the backside and become a trainer and owner. Over thirty years later, his impressive list of winners includes Mr. David D., Uncle Fudge, Port Arthur, How Rare, and Air Craft.

Few railbirds could make the transition, and fewer still could accomplish what Billky Ashabraner did.He went to the barns at Churchill Downs and offered to work for free in order to learn the business. He started by mucking stalls and eventually climbed to the top of the trainers' list, won the Governor's Cup, had an early Derby favorite, ran the claimer of the year, became a successful owner, and advised many well-known horsemen on all aspects of racing.

In Insights Into Racing , Ashabraner explains his philosophy of how to choose horses - whether it is to bet on them, to train them, to own them, or to turn them from losers into winners. You won't find a hand check on any page, as Billy tells it like it was and is.
